HOT TOPIC: Interior Trends for 2016

We are in the peak of property selling, buying and leasing, so there’s no better excuse to revamp your home with this year’s trends!

Colour trends

The Scandinavian influence is still strong in design. Dulux has released a new range of whites for those looking for that fresh look. These new shades will be slightly cooler with more green and grey undertones. Be sure to take into consideration what kind of lighting you have in the room as this can change how your paint will look. Greys and pastels are said to feature heavily this year to add to that clean Scandi look. Tip: Calming hues across the grey, white and pastel palette will complete this look. Try using cushions or throws to add texture and a sense of comfort.

Mix Metallics

The colour of metallic embellishments changes year on year – last year we saw the dominance of rose gold and copper and in the past it was stainless steel. Mid-century mod brass, gold and natural metallic finishes are popular. Tip: tapware can be a great way to implement mix metallic, if that’s not in your budget try accessories such as candle holders, mirrors or vessels.

Bringing the Outdoors in

We’ve written in the past about plants as decor – and it’s becoming even more of a feature this year. The type of plant can set the theme of your décor and design inspiration. Tip: Try introducing herbs in your kitchen, not only do they serve as a tasteful addition to your meals, they are easy to take care of and smell beautiful!
