How to host the perfect dinner party

Now that you have settled into your dream home, the next step is to throw a successful dinner party. Whilst we all love nothing more than having friends and family over to enjoy a meal, but for many it can be a somewhat daunting experience to host their own dinner party. It doesn’t have to be hard! It can actually be quite fun and rewarding (think about all those left overs the next day!) We’ve compiled some tips we think might help you next time you decide to dine in.

Planning ahead.

Sounds fairly simple, but setting yourself some little milestones and planning ahead of time will elevate a lot of the stress! Decide on your menu early enough especially if you are trying a new recipe, it will allow you to have time to practice. Don’t forget, it’s more than ok to choose your signature dish, something from your comfort zone. We say this as trying out Heston Blumenthal’s latest dessert not dessert entrée might add that extra pressure you don’t need! This could also be a good time to ask about food allergies…

Prep your ingredients.

This comes hand in hand with our planning ahead tip. Having everything ready to go means you can ensure you have all your ingredients at hand and allows you to execute your recipe with ease. We suggest using recipes for one of your courses that can be made in advance – for example dessert can be made the night prior.

Sharing is caring.

Make the occasion as interactive as possible! Food designed to share is always a great option, for example cooking tacos or making sushi. This gives your guests the opportunity to assemble their own flavour combinations and is always great for conversation. This also takes the pressure off you if you need to do other things in the kitchen.

Enjoy your party

Ok, this is probably the most important and should be rule number one. Don’t forget it’s your party too! Relax and enjoy with your guest, if they see you relaxed and happy they will feel the same too.
