How to sell your house – how much should I spend on advertising?
By | 2nd Aug 17

The whole process of selling your house is an emotional one even before you speak to an agent. It’s a whole mental process because you’re juggling the price you want to achieve, deciding on which agent to select as well as trying to understand the sales strategy to ensure your property stands out.

So how much should you be spending on advertising? Many agents give an outline of what they think your property may require to get the best exposure so we recommend understanding your budget, the time frame in which you would like to sell and who your possible buyer is.

Agents will have deals with online listing companies so their prices are usually some of the best you can get. There are many different listing packages you can chose from, and it really depends on the type of property you are selling, and how the market is trending.

If you are wanting to sell in a short time frame you might want to also consider a premier property listing that pins your property close to the top when someone searches. If you’re in a competitive market, getting the most exposure and enquiries is key as this can drive the price of your sale up and relatively quickly.

As with everything, do your research by searching for comparable properties in the suburb and the price range you are hoping to achieve. This will give you an idea of the live listings online and what your competitions marketing looks like.
