Is it worth paying for hire furniture if you are selling?

What is property staging?

What is property staging? Sounds like a bit of a song and dance, but essentially, it is when an interior designer comes in and furnishes your property professionally to help sell it. When it comes to improving the appearance of your property, furniture staging is becoming quite common when people choose to sell. So much that it is even more obvious when properties do not use an interior designer!

How much does it cost?

It really depends on the size of your property and what is involved when it comes to accessories and your desired look. Typically, you may be looking to spend around $2,500 plus for a two bedroom apartment for a period of 6 weeks or so.

So is it worth it?

A well styled home can really help your potential buyers visualise living in that space. It can really elevate your property to a different price point if you get the styling right according to your property and purchaser demographic.

We find properties that need that extra love when it comes to presentation or luxury homes that require a high price point can benefit from styling and home staging. Not only does your property present well in photos, encouraging more people to attend open for inspections, but it will also create the complete look for your property. If you are looking to sell quickly, we think staging or hire furniture will definitely help sell your property.

Understand your selling strategy

If you are still unsure as to whether home staging or enlisting an interior stylist can really make a difference, we recommend re-visiting your selling strategy. How fast do you have to sell your property? What price are you trying to achieve? Will the investment I make in staging pay off in the overall sale price for my property? It is important to understand the period you would like to stage your property as well because the longer you have it staged, the more you will have to invest. Using a stylist that understands your budget and target market is important because the complete look and feel of the home depends on this brief.
