Weekly Property Market Update - 9th January 2018
By | 9th Jan 18

Welcome back to our first Advantage Property weekly update. Hoping you all had a fantastic festive season and wishing you and your family a wonderful New Year. As with every new year, many people make New Year’s resolutions and some investors are hopefully making a resolution to buy another investment property and to build their portfolio. Hopefully you also develop a long term property strategy as good property always continues to go up in value.

There have been many predictions for the property market in 2018. Most professionals including myself have stated that they think it will be more of a buyers’ market than a sellers’ market this year which is great news for buyers. Sellers have had a fantastic run with some massive capital gains over the last five and a half years since the market bottomed in September 2012, so it is great to finally see some more opportunities for buyers.

I have been asked recently about what areas will be good value this year and my ‘hot spots’ and my predictions are to stick towards Melbourne’s middle West and Northern suburbs including Thomastown, St Albans, Ardeer and Reservoir. I also predict some of the outer Bayside suburbs such as Frankston right through to the Mornington Peninsula suburbs such as Dromana and McCrae will continue to improve. Read our predictions for 2018 ‘hot spots’ in Scott Carbines article here.
