Melbourne’s property market continued its solid start with a 82% clearance rate from 391 auctions. The market looks like it will kick off strongly particularly if interest rates drop as at the same time last year, the clearance rate was 79% from a larger volume of 829 auctions. One of the strongest auctions of the weekend was the sale of 2 Jacka St in Essendon. The modern five bedroom family home on 874m2 sold for $4,270,000, well above the $3,650,000 plus price guide. The owners made an enormous return on the $45,000 they paid for the property in 1980.

Modern turnkey properties continue to be in solid demand as was seen with 75 Yarra Valley Boulevard in Bulleen. The six bedroom, two bathroom modern home on 799m2 sold for $2,835,000. Though the owners didn’t make too much profit as the paid $2,430,000 in 2018 and it was quoted at $2,500,000 plus.
